Ordinary days
A friend of mine sent this to me. Technically, this youtube video is a promo for the book “The Gift Of An Ordinary Day” by Katrina Kenison. I don’t know anything about the author or her book, but this video is a MUST SEE. Have some tissues handy.

Babies and Toddlers
Such a cute sailor suit.

I have a serious addiction to baby eyelashes…
and red hair…

It’s so hard to choose just 2 or 3 images from a session to post on the blog. Some of my favorites lack presence when reduced in size. I don’t want to post all tight close-ups either. I try to post a variety.
Surprise for Dad
This sweet family session was a special gift for their father. We met for their session at a playground on the water.

Sometimes when photographing two little ones, it’s a challenge to pose them together. This session was no exception. I photographed Grant when he was about 3 months old and I’ve shot him several times since. This time was his new baby sister’s turn in the spotlight and Grant was still unsure about this new little person in his home. I photographed Makayla by herself, and then Grant by himself and was able to put them together after the session.

I love it when families bring items to the session to include in their photographs. Makayla was an autumn baby, so mom had some pretty leaves and branches to set the mood. Mom also provided the pink and lavender blanket with the star pillow attached.

I’m always happy to incorporate personal touches into your portraits.
A girl, A boy and twins
Marina’s family brought a family heirloom baptismal gown.

Isn’t this little guy adorable? He was very pensive. He gave me a few really great smiles, but I liked the serious ones better.

You know me and baby wrinkles.

This pair stole my heart.

Twins are a lot of work to photograph. I can only imagine trying to parent them. My hat’s off to you, mom!

Mom requested a very specific scene for this pose of her son.

Don’t you just love wrinkly newborns?

Sitting Pretty.

“Ptthhh”

These sisters were a couple of tigers, if you know what I mean.

Remember baby Jade? She grew up and I understand she has another sibling on the way. I can’t wait.
I love newborns
Two of my friends had babies this year. I was able to be present at the birth, but I will spare you the graphic images. I’m sure my friends would prefer to keep their bottoms off the internet anyhow.
Sophie’s dad is a drummer, so I had mom bring the bass drum along. They love this shot.
She was so new, she still had a cord stump to prove it. It’s best to photograph a newborn in the first two weeks of life because they still have the curled-up fetal positioning and they sleep a lot. In the 3rd week, infants have their first growth spurt. They want to nurse constantly and they start to stretch out and stay awake. It’s much more difficult to get the newborn poses that everyone loves once they get past the 2 week mark. The earlier the better so schedule your appointment before your birth. We can tweak the date and time after baby arrives.

Lucas came along just a few weeks later. I get many requests for the black background, so I was grateful to do something different with both of my friends.

Lucas’ big brother is Aidan, the boy in the red chair on my splash page in in the banner at the top of the blog. He turns 5 next month, so I’m sure I’ll see him again soon. Sophie and Lucas are both near 6 months now. It’s time for those sitting-up shots before they start crawling!

Jessica was sooo darling. See for yourself.

She took a bath too. It’s a hit with the 1 year olds.
She was a little tired of us at the end, but I love this color combination.

I also had a nice family session designed with the grandparents in mind. Mom, Dad and baby A flew in.

I love how they were all interacting with A in this last one. When I showed it to mom, she cried.
Sophia & Christopher
Sophia came to see me last spring. She was a wiggle-bottom and didn’t want to stay on the set. We used a nice warm bath to relax her.

We had so much fun that she sent me her newborn baby brother Christopher!
